Frequently Asked Questions

What is the schedule for the Late Activities Bus?

The buses depart The Heights School promptly at 5:30 pm and drop off at four locations in accordance with the schedule above.  Due to dynamic traffic conditions times above are approximate.  Parents are notified that the student is onboard just a few minutes before departure, and are asked to meet the buses when they arrive at their drop off stops.

Do I have to meet my son at pick up?

Families are asked to meet their son(s) at the time of drop off.  Students being dropped off at the Great Falls Library may wait there for their rides inside the Library, if necessary. (Library hours here).

What is the price for the service?

The cost of a single daily trip is $10.50.  Tickets on account from the previous year carry forward to this year, as if bought at the new price.

How do I purchase rides on the bus?

Payment for bus trips is accomplished online by the purchase of tickets representing a set number of rides that you determine. Tickets may be purchased here. These tickets are good for the entire year.

How can I see if I have any tickets left?

Please go to the ticket purchase page here. You will see an email entry form on the page. Please enter the email you previously used to purchase tickets, and we will send an automated email with your ticket purchases.

Can tickets be purchased by other means?

Though the online method of purchase is preferred, tickets may be purchased by cash or check through the Business Office.

Does my son have to present a paper ticket to ride the bus?

No, as long as you have purchased a ticket, all that a rider needs to do is board the bus and let the driver know he is present. A ticket will be subtracted electronically from your ticket balance and an email sent to let you know the number of tickets remaining.

What if my son wants to bring home a friend?

Either the friend will need to purchase a ticket to ride, or your ticket balance will be deducted for the extra ride.

What if my son is already signed up for the regular after school bus, and only wants to use the Late Activities Bus on an “as needed” basis?

You must still purchase a ticket in order to use the Late Activities Bus, as the cost of the service is independent from that of the regular bus.

I would like my son to ride the Late Activities Bus the entire year is that possible?

Yes. Please call the Business Office to make that arrangement. The fee would depend on whether you are currently signed up for the regular after-school bus or not.

What is the service on scheduled half-days of school?

The service will run as usual, departing The Heights School at 5:30 pm.

What is the service in the event of inclement weather?

The school follows Montgomery County Public Schools.  In the event of an early dismissal or closure the service will be cancelled for that day.

Where do I go with questions?

For questions about the service, contact Andrew Acevedo at transportation@heights.edu. For payment and technical questions, contact John Beatty at jbeatty@heights.edu.
