The Heights varsity soccer team won the WCAC championship on Sunday, November 5th! After earning a 14-1-1 record during the regular season, they went on to defeat Bishop O’Connell in the quarterfinals, St. John’s in the semifinal, and Gonzaga in the championship (click here for a season overview in the Washington Post). The final match, hosted at The Catholic University of America’s Carlini Field, was a suspenseful game with both teams fighting well. Around a thousand Heights students, family members, and alumni attended the final match to support the team. Galvanized with this support, the Cavs scored a goal in the first half, and then pulled ahead with two more late in the second half, leading to a 3-0 victory. Congratulations to Coach Gleason and the team on an excellent season!
