Inaugural Cavalier 5K

Community race held at The Heights

The first Cavalier 5K was held at The Heights on June 17 with over fifty runners including current students, parents, alumni, and parents of alumni. The course covered ground on campus as well as through neighborhoods familiar to former cross country, soccer, and track athletes. The runners departed campus down Seven Locks Road to Democracy Boulevard then to Gainsborough Road before cutting back to Democracy Lane via Windsor View Drive and back to The Heights, where they looped the fields and the courtyard before finishing in front of the main building.

The race was dominated by three of the top Heights runners of the 2010s: Ian Denis ’17 (17:35), Joe Kilmer ’17 (18:40), and Greg Hadley ’12 (19:17). They were followed by three members of the 2022 cross country team. The full race results are available here.

Following the race, a cookout was held and winners were recognized for the various age divisions. Next year a new category will be introduced: the stroller division, since so many participants pushed stroller this year!

Thank you to everyone who ran, cheered, and helped out on race day! A special thanks to our sponsors, McLean Wealth Partners and Inkling Communications.

Next year’s race will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024. Save the date, and we’ll see you there!
