In their first season as full WCAC members, the Heights Varsity Soccer Team won the championship by defeating Paul VI 3-0. The team is currently ranked 2nd in the DC area and 18th nationally.
The Washington Post wrote about our Heights Cavs here, and Top Drawer Soccer did the same here.
When asked about the victory, Assistant Soccer Coach Babendrier commented, “This year’s undefeated record by our varsity soccer team and WCAC Championship in our very first season in the league is, as I told our players it would be — at practice even the day before the stirring semi-final, overtime, penalty-kick triumph over Gonzaga — the greatest achievement in our program’s history… Still, our success this year was built upon the feet, legs, shoulders, heads and hands of myriad other Heights soccer players — many fantastic strikers, midfielders, defenders and goalies with tremendous talent, tenacity and ambition — who laid the groundwork and established the legacy for this year’s marvelous team.”
Thanks, alums, for what you built.
