“I have often said that (…) the true apologetics for the Christian message, the most persuasive proof of its truth (…) are the saints and the beauty that the faith has generated.”
– Pope Benedict XVI

For two millennia the Catholic Church has employed art as a means of teaching through beauty.  Indeed, Pope Benedict XVI wrote that “For faith to grow today, we must lead ourselves and the persons we meet to encounter the saints and to come in contact with the beautiful.”  Join Mr. Joe Cardenas on Saturday, February 1, 2025, for an evening devoted to beauty in the church. Mr. Cardenas has taught Art History for over 20 years and is the Head of Mentoring.

Dostoyevsky famously wrote that “beauty will save the world.”  Mr. Cardenas will explain how this applies not simply to the undifferentiated masses, but to us, as Christians, in our places of workshop.  Put simple, how has beauty saved and taught us over the course of the past two millennia in our own churches.

All parents and friends are welcome. Doors open to the Main Building on campus at 7:00 pm and the talk will begin at 7:30.
