Climbing to Great Heights

For the second time in the program’s history, The Heights climbing team claimed first place at the Washington Area Interscholastic Climbing League (WAICL) championship meet, held this past Sunday in Arlington, Virginia. Junior JP Moynihan took third overall in the individual scoring and climbed the school’s first ever V9 in competition. The Cavs also had strong performances from seniors Thomas Love, Patrick Donohue, Thomas Hanssen, and Luca Tocci,  and sophomore Greg Hanssen. Also worth noting is the depth of the team overall this season, with the JV squad consistently putting up varsity scores all year long. We are looking forward to many more years of tough climbing. When asked about the season, first time coach Finn Mehigan said, “I was most impressed by the consistent effort and solid growth each of the climbers made this season. Taken all together, this growth made it possible for the team to claim the championship.”
