Is your young son fascinated with military history? Then we have the camp for you! New this year we will be offering a second full week of camp with a Civil War theme.

Welcome to Little Wars, where boys play with historically accurate toy soldiers and engage in reenacted battles. All campers will be assigned to a squad with other boys their age to be trained like an 18th or 19th Century soldier and be ready for battle!

These activities foster imaginative play and historical knowledge among the campers. Boys enjoy a blend of small group play and large-scale battles—complete with fortifications, landscapes, and artillery. Battles are reenacted indoors and out. Little Wars awaits!

Each camper receives a toy musket on the first day for both camps. They also get to choose some toy soldiers to take home on the last day.

Jimmy Callahan, Heights AP US History teacher and a graduate of the Citadel leads the camp.

First Week (July 8-12):

The morning session will focus on the French & Indian War (1754-1763). We briefly discuss tactics such sieges and ambushes and then create our battle set ups with toy soldiers and toy muskets.

The afternoon session will focus on the Revolutionary War (1775-1783).  We briefly discuss key battles, leaders, tactics like fight in lines, marching, etc and then create our battle set ups with toy soldiers and toy muskets.

The full day option includes both sessions plus supervised lunch and recess time. Full day campers should bring a lunch from home.

Second Week (July 15-19):

The new American Civil War week is full day only and will involve discussions of major battles (Manassas, Antietam, Vicksburg, Gettysburg, etc), tactics, and more.  Toy muskets will be issued to all campers and of course there will be plenty of Civil War themed toy soldiers to recreate these battles as well as some custom ones of our own!

We’ll also work in some battles with water guns to mix it up!

All campers must be 4 1/2 years-old by the first day of camp.
