- Time:10:00 am-2:00 pm
- Cost:$375 per week
- Grades:8-12
- Staff:Brendan Reim
For all aspiring novelists, short-story writers, poets, and playwrights.
The Inklings Writing Workshop is a week-long camp offering students an introduction to the art
of writing fiction. In addition to learning craft and technique, students will produce their own
written work and receive thoughtful feedback in an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie.
The camp follows the structure of a traditional creative writing workshop. All participants will
submit a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 20 pages of their best written work two weeks
before the start of the workshop. These manuscripts will be shared among participants, who are
required to read and edit one another’s work prior to the first day of the program.
Each manuscript will be given a designated time to be “workshopped” during an afternoon
session over the course of the week. During these sessions, students will receive constructive
written and verbal feedback from both the instructor, Mr. Reim, and their fellow participants.
The workshop takes as its inspiration the friendship of the Inklings—Tolkien, Lewis, Williams,
and Barfield. Its goal is for students to grow not only through instruction and technique, but
through fellowship with peers who share a love for the art of fiction.
Schedule:

Guided Composition/ Discussion of Literary Work (11-12pm)
