Dr. Bell came to The Heights in 1994 following more than thirty years as a physicist in private industry and the government. A New York native and Korean War veteran, he received a B.S. in physics from the University of Maryland, a master’s in Engineering Science with an option in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. in physics from the American University. Prior to joining The Heights faculty, Dr. Bell worked as a research physicist at the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center for three decades; at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on laser interaction with reentry vehicle plasmas, and served as a visiting professor at the U.S. Naval Academy from 1990-1992. He and his wife, Eleanor, have four children, fourteen grandchildren, two great granddaughters and one great grandson!
