  • Time:8:30 am-3:00 pm
  • Cost:$475 One Week
  • Grades:3-8

Experience the most epic battlefields of the Civil War- Manassas, Antietam, and Gettysburg. Relive Pickett’s Charge, cross Burnside’s Bridge, and traverse Devil’s Den. See where Jackson stood like a stone wall and Chamberlain won the Medal of Honor. Other site visits (depending on weather and availability) may include the Defenses of Washington, DC (such as Forts Washington, Ward, or Stevens), the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA to see real Civil War weaponry up close, or smaller battlefields like Monocacy, Ball’s Bluff, and Ox Hill.

Finally, spend time at The Heights living the life of a Civil War soldier learning how to march in formation, set up a campfire, and participate in cap gun and water gun battle re-enactments, and fire a water balloon launcher to better understand Civil War-era Artillery.

Notes:

We will have camp on July 4th.

Usual dress is regular summer attire including good shoes for walking battlefields.

Space is limited to 13 campers and this camp does fill up.

Campers outside of the recommended age range may be admitted on a case by case basis. Please contact Jimmy Callahan to discuss.

Campers should bring a bag lunch, a water bottle, and a hat. Some days we stop for ice cream and visit gift shops so campers may bring money for these opportunities.
