“I do desire we may be better strangers” — As You Like It III, 2
The play’s the thing to make your summer fun!
Come, ye periwig-pated groundlings, and sit at the feet of the Bard for a fun week of acting, fighting, and workshopping with the Bard to improve as actors and as men. But don’t just sit: act!
💬 Speak the speech,
🩸 make stage blood,
🤺 practice your staged combat skills,
🎭 and step in and out of classic characters like Hamlet, Macbeth, Falstaff, Launce, Crabbe. Be hilarious! Be tragic! Often at the same time. 🙂
Come experience why Shakespeare is fun with Mr. Cox leading the way.
Challenge yourself to bring his words to life and make them your own.
Each day will have a theme and a project, as well as time to work your lines and practice your scenes with your friends.
The first day we’ll choose our roles: a monologue, a scene with two to three actors, and a larger scene that will incorporate all our acting talent, and maybe some doubling.
The next three days will be themed around Shakespeare’s genres: History, Tragedy, and Comedy as we practice bringing our monologues and scene to life, making stage blood, choreographing stage combat, and much more.
The final day of the week will include everyone’s performance of their speeches. Parents are welcome to attend to see the pageantry and artistry of their sons monologues, scene, and our group scene. Come see what we can put together in just a week of work!
