Austin Brown (’17) Receives U.S. State Department Scholarship to Study in China

Congratulations to recent graduate Austin Brown, who will study in China this upcoming academic year through a prestigious and highly competitive National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship from the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This program was created in 2006 to bolster the ranks of Americans who are highly proficient in select languages critical for our national diplomatic and economic interests. Austin remarked that he is “…excited not only for the coming year but also for the doors this scholarship will open in the future.” Roughly 4,000 individuals applied for this distinguished scholarship, but only about 30 have been selected to participate in the year-long program in China
