After completing a 17-0-1 WCAC Championship season, The Heights Varsity Soccer team is piling up postseason honors. Today the Washington Post published their All-Met Team for the Fall of 2018 and the Cavaliers are all over it!
Three Heights players made the list: Daniel Diaz-Bonilla ’19 and Mac Malloy ’19 earning 1st Team honors while fellow senior Andy Wood ’19 earned Honorable Mention. Head Coach Colin Gleason ’99 was named Coach of the Year.
Daniel and Mac are second and third players respectively to make the 1st Team for Soccer, Heights legend Jimmy Escobar ’76 is the only other. Three players Santiago Jimenez ’92, Paul Egan ’18 and Freddy Adu previously made the 2nd Team. Many Cavaliers have earned Honorable Mentions over the years as well.
Colin Gleason joins longtime baseball manager Al Battista as the only Heights coaches to win a Washington Post Coach of the Year award. Battista won the award in 1995 following a 25-2 spring season.
