Late Applicants: Waitlist Procedure

The Heights expects full enrollment by mid-March.  Each year, however, we experience a small number of unanticipated openings due to the international nature of our city.  Consequently, the following process allows late applicants to apply to our waitpool in the event of such openings.  To apply to the waitpool, please:

  • Submit Application online through the Admissions Portal;
  • Submit unofficial copy of report card by email to admissions@heights.edu;
  • Starting March 20, The Heights will reach out to you if, based on the records and our available spaces, a student visit is advisable;
  • Following the visit, should you chose to complete the process, please request recommendations, official transcripts, and schedule the family interview through the parent portal;
  • Decisions released on an as-available basis, no earlier than April 1, as late as August 2017.

Application Process

1. Arrange a day-long student visit

Please click here for visit day details. Students interested in attending The Heights starting in 2017 are welcome to visit starting in late September of this year.

2. Apply online

Click here to submit an application.

3. Submit a Transcript and Recommendation

Submit a transcript and recommendation. These forms can be accessed in the Parent Portal after submitting the application and fee online. While we will continue to accept teacher recommendations via email, fax, or hard copy, the teacher recommendation may be requested, completed, and submitted online using the admissions parent portal.

4. Upper School Applicants may, at their election, submit SSAT or other standardized test scores

The Heights is Test-Optional.  Accordingly, Upper School applicants, if they so choose, may take the SSAT or send us another similar standardized test score once it becomes available. For those electing to take the SSAT, more information can be found at ssat.org. The Heights is #3828. Regardless of whether standardized tests are submitted, all applicants will read aloud to their interviewer, provide a short writing sample during the family interview, and complete written work during their visit day.  Consequently, The Heights does not require a standardized test, but rather leaves it to the applicant family to decide whether such a test is in the best interest of their son.

5. Schedule the Applicant/Family interview

The interview is the last step in the application process and can be scheduled online through the Admissions Portal, or by calling 301.765.2093.  Younger siblings need not attend, but are always welcome.  While you are able to schedule your interview before we receive all the supporting documents, we will reach out to you to reschedule if we do not have a completed file two days before the scheduled interview date. Upper School applicants must complete the Family Interview by Wednesday, January 18th; Lower and Middle School applicants by February 3rd.
