This weekend, 80 former members of The Heights Men’s Chorus joined approximately 40 current members to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this program under Dr. Kevin Strother’s leadership. Festivities kicked off Friday evening with a reception that lasted late into the evening. Our grads rallied for a 9am rehearsal on Saturday, and brought their collective work to fruition on Saturday night with a concert that moved performers and audience alike. The Men’s Chorus drew on Heights classics such as Rise Up, Ave Maria, Betelehemu, and We Meet Again Tonight. Dr. Kevin Strother, founder and director of the Men’s Chorus, introduced each of the songs to a packed gym, sharing why he had picked each of these songs for our students to perform. Mr. de Vicente shared that the Men’s Chorus is in many ways the spokesman for the School: our boys sing at weddings; they sing at funerals. This student group expresses so well, through music, the sentiments of our School community during life’s pivotal moments.
Our thanks to Dr. Strother for the memorable evening, and for 20 years mirth and song. To The Heights!
